Happy Walk and CanRock 2015

Now on its 13th year, the Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines, Inc., celebrated its Happy Walk with the theme All for Down on February 22, 2015 at Skydome, SM North EDSA. The parade of persons with Down Syndrome and SPED advocates inside the mall raised awareness about the condition. The showcase of talents happened inside the Sky Dome where our very own dance group, ILLC Hunks and Babes was invited to perform an intermission number to the tune of Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars. They danced their hearts out in their 70s retro fashion as the dance theme.

The University of the Philippines – Special Education Council or UPSEC organized CanRock, a musical recital with a theme, “CanRock 2015: Kapit Bisig” which aims to highlight different capabilities of children with special needs through performances like singing, dancing and playing musical instruments. The said event was held in Robinson’s Galleria Event Center last February 28. The ILLC Hunks and Heartthrobs were given a chance to perform during the event. The crowd went wild as the boys stepped onto the stage and started to perform. Truly, with events such as the Happy Walk and the CanRock, more and more people are starting to see beyond the conditions, and see our students with exceptionalities for who they really are – especially capable!
